I keep coming back to LiveJournal and I have yet to figure out why. Throughout the past year I've hosted my journal on hosted services and through my own domain, running varying blogging software such as MovableType, TypePad, Textpattern, and WordPress. All four software packages run almost identically, they have their quirks, benefits, and problems. MovableType and TypePad, which are almost the same software, require a lot of maintenance, upkeep, and are very slow. Instead of using a database they use individual files which take forever to build and rebuild. TextPattern was never made, in my opinion, to be used as a full-blown weblogging software; instead, it should be used as the frontend of a content oriented website. WordPress is a great software package, yet the expandability is limited and can only be done through plug-ins. So I ask the question again, why am I back to LiveJournal? I think I just like it and what it has to offer. Here I am--back to LiveJournal.
I've read in various news articles that LiveJournal should never be considered a serious blogging tool. Maybe that's true, yet I don't care. I've never cared about being world known, published, and talked about. I write for myself, no one else. Even after I closed
dreamaster down a few times, I keep on writing elsewhere (and I keep coming back to LiveJournal to read everyones journal). People who read my journal are reading about me and my life. I can't think of any of my readers who know me in real life. Could I be a phantom of the ether? It simply doesn't matter.
Today is the start to a new day in my journal--and my life.
